Sustainable plastics with full transparency and traceability

Spanish Law 7/2022, of April 8, on waste and contaminated soil for a circular economy, represents a revolution for the Plastics Industry. The taxes on non-reusable plastic packaging proposed by the European Union (EU) within the framework of the “Green Deal” will significantly increase the need for the industry to include recycled plastic in its production chain to avoid both economic and environmental costs.

And Sostenplas will be there, supplying recycled plastic to those clients interested in having a sustainable and respectful production with the environment.

Throughout Europe, around 25.8 million tons of plastic waste are generated annually.

Less than 30% is recovered for recycling. Of this amount, a significant part leaves the EU to be treated in third countries, where environmental regulations allow greater pollution, and another part ends up in our seas or in landfills.
It is estimated that plastic production and its waste incineration produce approximately 400 million tons of CO2 per year globally. Using recycled plastics reduces dependence on fossil fuels and curbs CO2 emissions. The annual energy savings by recycling all of the world’s plastic waste would be equivalent to 3.5 billion barrels of oil per year.
The circular economy improves the efficiency in the consumption of resources by conserving materials and transforming waste into secondary raw materials.

For this reason, at Sostenplas we advocate a circular and sustainable economy model in which resources are conserved and reused.
